Frequently Asked Questions
Can I register at one of your test centres?
The CELPIP Test Centres do not process any registration applications. All registrations should be completed through the CELPIP Office at Paragon Testing Enterprises. The best and easiest way to register is online.
To register in person, please visit the Paragon Head Office in Vancouver, or at our office in Toronto. For more information about our office locations, click here: https://www.celpip.ca/contact/
How and when do I get my scores?
CELPIP Test scores are available online through your CELPIP Account in 8 business days after your test date. For test takers that order Express Rating, your CELPIP Test scores will be available in 3 business days after your test date. Please note that business days do not include weekends or holidays. You will receive an email notification once your scores are available. Your CELPIP Test scores can be accessed and viewed online in your CELPIP Account for a period of 2 years, from your test date.
If you have chosen to receive a hard copy of your CELPIP Official Score Report, you will be sent TWO CELPIP Official Score Reports in the mail through regular mail. If your shipping address is in Canada, you will receive your CELPIP Official Score Reports in approximately 3 to 10 business days from receiving this email notification. If your shipping address is outside of Canada, you will receive your CELPIP Official Score Reports in approximately 1 to 3 weeks from receiving this email notification. The first two CELPIP Official Score Reports are included in your test registration fee. Additional Official Score Reports can be ordered through your CELPIP Account, for a fee of $20.00 CAD + tax. Priority shipping, at an additional fee, may also be requested, with shipping prices varying depending on your address.
What kind of identification document (ID) can I use?
If the identification document that you bring with you on test day does not meet the following requirements, you will not be allowed to take the test, and you will not be able to transfer your test or receive a refund:
- Your identification document must be the same one you used to register for the test. It must match the registration details you entered during registration, including full name and document number.
- Your identification document must be original. Photocopies of identification are not acceptable.
- Your identification document must be valid.
- Your identification document must be unexpired.
Acceptable identification for the CELPIP–General Test:
- Passport booklet
- United States Passport Card
- Refugee protection claimant document*
- Travel document*
*Refugee protection claimant documents and travel documents must be pre-approved by our office every time you register for a test. For approval, please send a scan or picture of your document by email to info@celpip.ca. Refugee protection claimant documents and travel documents that are not pre-approved by our office may not be accepted on test day. No refunds or transfers will be given for refused entries.
Unacceptable identification includes:
- Any expired document
- Any photocopy of a document
- Social Security card
- Social Insurance card
- Canadian health card
- Driver’s licence (allowed for non-IRCC purposes only)
- Temporary identification card
- Employee identification card
- Student identification card
- Notary-prepared letter or document
- Credit card of any type
- Firearms License
IMPORTANT: Test takers who do not provide their valid identification during check-in at the test sitting will be refused entry to the test and will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.
If you registered for the CELPIP Test with a passport booklet, we recommend that you do not send it away for any reason (i.e., extensions or visa renewals) before your scheduled test date. If you are required to do so, please send away your passport booklet after you have taken the test or before you register for the test. If you do not provide your passport booklet or the identification document that you registered with at the test sitting, you will be refused entry to the test and no refunds or transfers will be given.
Would I be allowed to take the test if I arrive after the test has started?
Unfortunately not. Later comers will be refused entry and will not be allowed to take the test. It is the test taker’s responsibility to arrive early for their test. We do enforce the 45 minutes early arrival rule before test time schedule for test takers to avoid being late. Test takers would be considered late if they arrived right at the test start time or later and they will need to register and pay again for the new test.
How do I change or cancel my test date?
If you are unable to attend a Test Session for which you are registered, you may request a cancellation of the registration in your CELPIP Account.
If your cancellation request is received by Paragon at least nine (9) calendar days before the date of the Test Session, then Paragon will grant your cancellation request and provide you with a refund of fifty percent (50%) of the fee you paid for the Test Session registration. If your cancellation request is received by Paragon less than nine (9) calendar days before the date of the Test Session, then Paragon will grant your cancellation request and you will not receive any refund of the fee that you paid for the cancelled Test Session registration.
If you would like to transfer your Test Session to another Test Session in your CELPIP Account for the same type of Test to which the original Test Session applied. If your transfer request is received by Paragon at least nine (9) calendar days before the date of the Test Session and Paragon grants your transfer request, then you will be required to pay a transfer fee of $50.00 CAD plus applicable taxes.
If your transfer request is received by Paragon less than nine (9) calendar days before the date of the Test Session contact Paragon’s customer service at 778-327-6854 or info@celpip.ca. Paragon in its discretion may require that you support your transfer request with appropriate documentation (e.g. doctor’s note or evidence of bereavement) confirming the reason for the transfer request in form and content satisfactory to Paragon.
You may register for more than one test session only if all test sessions are at least four (4) calendar days apart from each other. Test session registrations that violate this rule are subject to cancellation by Paragon.
