Please note that the recorded training program will become available in your CELPIP account on the training dates specified below.  Participants must fully complete the recorded training program within 10 days of the start date in order to be eligible for a certificate of completion and to receive a PDF Instructor Training Manual.

Cost: $75 (Free for teachers working for licensed prep providers)

This self-directed 12-hour online program has been designed for experienced teachers with a CLB 10 level of English and a firm grasp of the structure and content of the CELPIP test. Each of the four skills assessed in the CELPIP Test is explored in detail. Quizzes and interactive exercises throughout the program help teachers gauge their progress. A final exercise at the end of the program will assess overall understanding.  A certificate of achievement will be provided to those with a passing score.

Topics include:

•  Understanding how CELPIP is different from other language tests
• Developing practical and productive test-preparation and test-taking strategies
• Understanding how CELPIP is rated by analyzing sample Writing and Speaking responses
• Making the best use of instructional products and programs developed for the CELPIP Test
• Building a strong vocabulary and using English expressions naturally
• Managing mixed-level classes
• Using classroom activities that help test takers overcome test anxiety

A prerequisite of CELPIP Advanced Instructor Training is that you first complete CELPIP Instructor Training – either the live or recorded version.  Please see the above section titled, “Sign up for free CELPIP Instructor Training” for more information.

Upcoming Training Dates

Please see below for upcoming training dates.  Advanced Instructor Training begins on the first Tuesday of every month.  The course material will be available in your account for three months.

While you can work at your own pace, we will conduct a progress check 3 weeks after your start date. If you have successfully completed the program—that is, read all the module content and obtained 100% on each quiz—we will immediately send your Final Assignment by email. Be sure to check the email you used to sign up for the program. There is no need to notify us that you have completed this phase of the training. We will monitor your progress carefully.

Some instructors may take longer than three weeks to complete all of the course material. This is no problem: taking longer than three weeks to complete the modules will not affect your outcome in the course. Be aware, however, that course material completion checks are conducted only on the dates displayed above. If, for example, you receive your course material on August 6, and you complete the modules five weeks later (that is, on September 10), you must wait for the next scheduled progress check on September 23rd.

Final Assignment

The Final Assignment will require that you answer in writing a series of questions to assess your understanding of the material presented in the online material.  It is estimated that it will take between 2-4 hours to complete this assignment. Your Final Assignment will be assessed by our teacher trainers, John and Meaghan, and will include personalized comments.  An explanation of the requirements will be sent to you along with the Final Assignment, when you have completed the online portion of the course.

You will have 2 weeks to complete your Final Assignment and submit it to prepprograms@paragontesting.ca. If you do not submit your assignment by the deadline, you will have to wait until the next assessment cycle for your assignment to be evaluated.

Once you have submitted the Final Assignment, your final assessment and certificate of achievement (if applicable) will be sent to you by email within 10 business days.
